Snorkel Day

Snorkel Day create possibilities for people with disabilities to participate in assisted adaptive ocean activities. Sharing adventure and freedom during this event, brings family and friends together in a community-based way.

An Occupational Therapist guides people with special needs into the waterSnorkel Day is a free inclusive event for people with disabilities and their families and caregivers to enjoy a day at the beach. An experienced team of community volunteers leads the activities.  Specialized adaptive and safety equipment such as the mobi mat, hippo-campe and mobi chair is available.

Snorkel Day is more than just an ordinary beach day, it is a meeting place for friends, where all are included and treated equally, and giving rest to the families and caregivers!

Kona – Third Friday of each month, 12 months of the year.

Where: Kahalu’u Beach

Time: 10am-2pm

Dates for 2013: Jan 18, Feb 15, Mar 15, Apr 19, May 17, Jun 21, Jul 19, Aug 16, Sept 20, Oct 18, Nov15, Dec 20.

 

Hilo – Fourth Friday of the months May through September.

Where: Richardson’s Beach Park

Time: 10am – 2pm

Dates for 2013: May 24, Jun 28, Jul 26, Aug 23, Sept 27

 

Kawaihae – Once a year

Where: Spencer’s Beach Park

Time: 10am – 2pm

Date for 2013: August 9th
